Pharmatex cream is indicated to avoid pregnancy, but does not provide 100% protection. Contraceptive effect of the medicine depends primarily on its correct use.

Uses and active ingredients

This contraceptive is particularly suitable in the following cases:
– contraindications to the use of oral contraceptives or intrauterine devices;
– having rare sexual intercourses; after delivery or abortion;
– during breast-feeding; prior to menopause;
– if you missed a dose of a permanent oral birth control. In the latter case, use Pharmatex with oral tablets until the end of the menstrual cycle. Can also be used in addition to an intrauterine device.

Ingredients. The active substance is benzalkonium chloride. 72 g of vaginal cream (1 tube) contains 864 mg of active substance benzalkonium chloride. 1 g of vaginal cream contains 12 mg of benzalkonium chloride. The excipients are: anhydrous citric acid, sodium hydrogen phosphate, macrogol and ethylene glycol stearate, lavender oil and purified water.

How to use Pharmatex cream 

The contraceptive is used vaginally before each sexual intercourse irrespective of the day of the menstrual cycle. Administer cream by using the applicator-dispenser, which is attached to the tube and filled to appropriate mark; make sure the dispenser does not contain air bubbles. Then detach the tube and apply the cream in the applicator-dispenser by inserting it deep into the vagina and pressing slowly on the plunger of the applicator-dispenser. Remove applicator-dispenser from vagina. The effect of the cream occurs immediately and lasts for 10 hours. In case of repeated sexual intercourses, insert new dose of cream into the vagina. The instructions for use should be precisely followed!

Storage. Do not store at a temperature higher than 25°C/77°F. Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the package. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

Side-effects, precautions and interactions

Use before each sexual intercourse irrespective of the day of the menstrual cycle. In case of repeated sexual intercourse, always administer new dose. When using Pharmatex, do not wash with soap before and after sexual intercourse, because it eliminates the contraceptive effect of benzalkonium chloride. For external cleaning, use only clean water or special Pharmatex product that does not contain soap base. Stop using the medicine, if you get ulcers on the external genitalia.
