Uses and active ingredients
Injectable Biotine comes in the form of a box of 6 self-breakable ampules made of colorless type I glass of 1 ml. It contains 5 mg of vitamin H or biotin (active substance) and has 3 excipients, namely: Sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate; Sodium bicarbonate; Water for injections.
Containing 9 mg of sodium per ampule, or less than 1 mmol per dose, Injectible Biotine can be considered an essentially “sodium-free” treatment. Note that the recommended dietary intake of vitamin H is 0.05 mg per day. Foods rich in biotin include, for example, egg yolk, kidneys, liver, milk, soy , oats, brewer’s yeast, or mushrooms.
Method of Administration
The dosage of this remedy reserved for adults is 1 to 2 ampules per week for 6 weeks, but be sure to follow the recommedations of your doctor or dermatologist.
Never use it if you are allergic or hypersensitive to its active substance or any of its excipients. This injectable solution reserved for adults must be administered intramuscularly only and must not be swallowed under any circumstances.
As a precautionary measure, it is also preferable not to take injectable Biotin during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Indeed, the follow-ups of pregnant women exposed to this drug are insufficient to exclude any risk and there is no data in breastfeeding women.
If you are using Biotin Injection or taking any dietary supplement containing biotin and you need to have a blood test, it is essential to tell your doctor or laboratory personnel. Indeed, biotin can distort the results of certain tests based on the biotin/streptavidin interaction and lead to underestimations or overestimations. Your doctor may ask you to stop injecting Biotin Injection before performing the tests or order alternative tests in cases where interference is suspected. Note that this risk is higher in patients with renal insufficiency and increases with the doses of biotin. No specific risk of biotin overdose has been described, as biotin is water-soluble, so excess intake is eliminated in the urine.
