Metadoxil 500 mg Tablet is a liver-protective agent used in the treatment of alcohol intoxication and fatty liver. This medication works by accelerating the clearance of alcohol from the blood. It is also being used nowadays for the treatment of ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity syndrome) and Fragile X syndrome. This medicine is used to treat alcohol intoxication (alcohol poisoning), a condition associated with drinking an excess amount of alcohol within a short period of time. The symptoms of alcohol intoxication may include slurred speech, incoordination, mood and behavior changes, coma (in rare cases), confusion, memory loss, etc. This medicine is used to treat alcoholic fatty liver, a condition characterized by increased deposits of fat in the liver. The symptoms of a fatty liver may include weight loss, abdominal pain, a feeling of tiredness, etc
Uses and active ingredients
Alcohol Intoxication. Chronic Alcoholism. Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome. Complex Therapy of Liver Diseases, Especially Alcohol Etiology.
Active ingredient: Pyridoxine L-2 pyrrolidone 5-carboxylate (methadoxine) – 500 mg. Excipients: Microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate. Metadoxine is able to accelerate the elimination of alcohol from the blood and tissues, to help restore the functional structure of the liver and to relieve neuro-psychological disorders associated with alcohol intoxication. Metadoxine also seems to be safe; in more than 15 years of post-marketing surveillance only minor aspecific and reversible events were monitored in patients exposed to the treatment. In this review the preclinical and clinical results obtained using metadoxine in acute and chronic alcohol intoxication are reported.
How to take Metadoxil
Combined therapy for chronic alcoholism: 1 tablet 2 times a day (1000 mg) 15-30 minutes before meals, the dose can be increased to 3 tablets (1500 mg) per day. The course of therapy should be at least 90 days.
