Diosminex Max in the form of tablets with micronized diosmin is a product that seals the veins, which additionally contributes to the increase in the elasticity of blood vessels. Diosminex Max tablets improve blood flow through blood vessels, reducing ailments associated with venous and lymphatic insufficiency. In addition, it supports the fight against hemorrhoids.

Diosminex Max tablets – characteristics of the medicinal product
Diosminex Max in the form of tablets is used to treat the symptoms of chronic venous insufficiency and to exacerbate the symptoms associated with hemorrhoids. The active ingredient in Diosminex Max tablets is diosmin. The drug increases the tone of the veins and provides protection to the blood vessels, besides, it reduces venous stasis and increases the resistance of the smaller blood vessels. The action of Diosminex Max also consists in reducing the permeability of small blood vessels and increasing their strength, in addition, the drug increases lymphatic drainage.

Diosminex Max is available in the form of coated tablets that should be swallowed during a meal. If Diosminex Max is used in accordance with the instructions in the leaflet attached to it, the package should be enough for about 2 months of treatment. In the case of hemorrhoids, treatment with Diosminex Max should be short-term, because in this case a higher dose of the product is used than in the treatment of venous insufficiency.

Diosminex Max drug – when can it be helpful?
Diosminex Max tablets can be used for symptoms of venous and lymphatic insufficiency. They can be helpful if the patient is struggling with swelling of the lower limbs, night leg cramps or leg pain. They can be used additionally with varicose veins of the lower limbs and the feeling of heaviness in the legs, and they can also be helpful with the patient’s venous ulcers. The drug Diosminex Max is also used for vascular spider veins, and in addition, it is used in the case of exacerbation of the problem of haemorrhoids.

Indications
Diosminex MAX is indicated:
in the treatment of symptoms of chronic venous insufficiency in adults, such as:
varicose veins of the lower limbs
venous ulcers
telangiectasias (spider veins) and varicose veins (reticular veins)
feeling of heaviness, tiredness, discomfort or restless legs
leg pain or burning sensation in the legs;
feeling cold legs
leg cramps at night
swelling of the lower limbs
itching and paraesthesia (tingling, pricking or itching of the skin of the lower extremities)
redness (erythema) or bruising of the skin
in symptomatic treatment in case of exacerbation of symptoms associated with haemorrhoids in adults.

Diosminex MAX is recommended for patients with intense symptoms of CVI, which may be intensified, for example, by working in a standing position, and for patients who value the convenience of taking only 1 tablet a day. This also applies to situations where patients want to take as few tablets as possible, for example when they also use other medications.
Diosminex Max is used as monotherapy in the early stages of chronic venous insufficiency or as an adjunct to other therapies in all stages of chronic venous insufficiency (C0 – C6 according to CEAP classification).

Composition
The active substance of the drug is diosmin (Diosminum). One tablet contains 1000 mg of micronized diosmin (Diosminum).

The other ingredients are:
tablet core: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, croscarmellose sodium, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate;
coating: polyvinyl alcohol, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol 3350, talc, quinoline yellow lake (E 104), indigo carmine lake (E 132), sunset yellow lake (E 110), black iron oxide (E 172).

Dosage
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Diosminex Max. Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dose for the treatment of symptoms of chronic venous insufficiency is:
1 tablet once a day with a meal.
For improvement, treatment should be continued for at least 4-5 weeks. If, after five weeks of treatment, your symptoms have worsened or have not changed, you should consult your doctor.
Treatment of exacerbation of symptoms associated with haemorrhoids:
3 tablets a day for the first 4 days, then 2 tablets a day for the next 3 days. Treatment should be short term. If the symptoms do not subside quickly, a proctological examination should be performed and treatment adjusted to its results. If, after seven days of treatment, your symptoms have worsened or have not changed, you should consult your doctor.
Do not use more than the recommended dose of the drug.
In case of intensification of symptoms related to haemorrhoids, it should be remembered that Diosminex MAX therapy is only symptomatic and should be short-term. If the symptoms persist, an examination by a proctologist should be performed, who will select the appropriate method of treatment. Taking this drug as a symptomatic treatment in case of exacerbation of symptoms related to haemorrhoids does not preclude administration of other drugs rectally.

Taking more than the recommended dose of Diosminex Max
Symptoms:
No case of overdose has been reported.
Overdose may cause gastrointestinal disturbances, vomiting and nausea. Diarrhea may occur with very high doses.

Treatment:
In case of overdose, standard medical management should be performed, i.e. induction of vomiting, gastric lavage, administration of activated charcoal followed by symptomatic treatment, including frequent monitoring of vital signs and close observation of the patient.

If you forget to take Diosminex Max
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

If you stop taking Diosminex Max
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
In the case of venous circulation disorders in the lower limbs, the therapeutic effect of Diosminex MAX can be increased by an appropriate lifestyle:
avoiding sun exposure;
avoiding standing for long periods of time;
maintaining an appropriate body weight;
wearing special stockings.

Contraindications
When not to use Diosminex MAX:
if you are allergic to the active substance or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Other medicines and Diosminex MAX:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
Diosmin can increase blood levels and reduce excretion of:
metronidazole (an antibacterial and antiprotozoal medicine);
diclofenac (an analgesic and anti-inflammatory drug).
fexofenadine (an antihistamine)
warfarin (an anticoagulant)
carbamazepine (anti-epileptic medicine)
Diosminex MAX with food and drink:
The drug should be taken with meals.
Children and youth
Interaction studies with other medicinal products have only been performed in adults.
Warnings and precautions:
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. As a precautionary measure, it is recommended to avoid the use of Diosminex Max during pregnancy.
Pregnancy
Ask your doctor for advice before taking Diosminex MAX during pregnancy or if you become pregnant while taking this medicine.
Breast-feeding
Due to the lack of adequate studies on the excretion of the drug into breast milk, it is recommended to avoid breast-feeding while taking Diosminex MAX.
A risk to the suckling child cannot be excluded.
Diosminex Max should not be used during breastfeeding.
Driving and using machines
Diosminex MAX has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
Diosminex MAX contains lactose
Diosminex MAX contains lactose monohydrate and should not be used in patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption, Diosminex MAX
contains sunset yellow (E 110)
Diosminex MAX contains sunset yellow (E 110) lake 110), which may cause allergic reactions.
Diosminex Max contains sodium
Diosminex Max contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per tablet, ie the product is essentially ‘sodium-free’.

Side effects:
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The following side effects may occur after using diosmin:
Rare (affects less than 1 in 1,000 people): diarrhoea, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, malaise, rash, itching, hives.
In the case of mild gastrointestinal side effects and neurovegetative disorders (e.g. increased anxiety, accelerated heartbeat, excessive sweating, fearfulness) discontinuation of the drug is not required.

Storage
Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Store below 25°C.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and blister after ‘EXP’ or ‘EXP’. The expiration date refers to the last day of the given month.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to throw away medicines you no longer use. Such behavior will help to protect the environment.
