Voltaren Max Gel 180g

Voltaren Max 180 g is a drug in the form of a gel, the active substance of which is diclofenac. Diclofenac belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Voltaren Max analgesic gel is intended for topical application to the skin.

How does Voltaren Max 180 g pain gel work?
The drug reduces inflammation and swelling around the muscles and joints , and relieves pain. Voltaren Max is used in the local treatment of:

post-traumatic inflammation of tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints, for example: resulting from sprains, strains or bruises,
back pain
limited inflammation of soft tissues, such as tendonitis, tennis elbow, bursitis, periarthritis,
limited and mild forms of osteoarthritis.
Voltaren Max gel is suitable for adults and adolescents over 14 years of age. The analgesic effect of the drug lasts up to 12 hours, so it should be used twice a day (morning and evening) on ​​painful places.

Indications
Voltaren Max gel relieves pain and reduces inflammation and swelling around muscles and joints.

Composition
1 g of Voltaren Max contains:

active substance: diclofenac diethylammonium 23.2 mg,
excipients: isopropyl alcohol, oleyl alcohol, cocosyl caprylocaproate, liquid paraffin , macrogol cetostearyl ether, carbomer, diethylamine, eucalyptus fragrance composition, butylhydroxytoluene (E321), purified water.
Action
Anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-swelling.

Dosage
Voltaren Max gel – application
Always use this medicine as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Adults and adolescents over 14 years of age: apply 2 times a day (morning and evening) to sore spots.
Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, do not use for longer than:
14 days for muscle and joint strains and tendinitis,
21 days for osteoarthritis pain, unless otherwise advised by your doctor.
In order to open the tube, before the first use, unscrew the cap, put it upside down on the protection and twist, which will allow you to remove the protection from the tube.
Then, gently rub a small amount of gel into the sore or swollen areas.
The amount of gel should be adjusted to the size of the affected area: the amount of gel corresponding to the size of a cherry fruit to the size of a walnut is sufficient.
When rubbing the gel, a slight cooling effect is felt.
Hands should be washed after applying the medicine, unless they are the area to be treated.
If pain and swelling do not improve within 7 days or worsen, contact your doctor. Do not take a double dose of Voltaren Max to make up for a missed dose.

Contraindications
Voltaren Max should not be used:

If you are allergic to the active substance or to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs used to treat pain, fever or inflammation, such as ibuprofen , aspirin or any of the other ingredients of the drug. Signs of an allergic reaction may include: wheezing or shortness of breath (asthma), skin rash with blisters or hives, swelling of the face or tongue, inflammation of the lining of the nose ( runny nose ),
in the third trimester of pregnancy,
in children under 14 years of age.
Storage
Voltaren Max should be stored out of the sight and reach of children, at a temperature below 30°C.

Side effects
Like all medicines, Voltaren Max can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Warnings and precautions
Particular care should be taken if the patient has broken skin, open wounds, eczema.
Stop using this medicine if you develop a rash after using it.
Do not use more product than recommended or for longer than recommended unless otherwise instructed.
Voltaren Max gel is intended for external use. It should not be used in the mouth, do not swallow. Wash your hands after use. Avoid contact of the gel with the eyes.
If the medicine gets into your eyes, rinse them with clean water and contact your doctor or pharmacist.
The drug can be used together with bandages or dressings usually used for sprains, but it should not be used under dressings that prevent air access.

Use in children and adolescents

There are insufficient data on the efficacy and safety of the drug in children and adolescents under 14 years of age.
If you need to take this medicine for more than 7 days in adolescents over 14 years of age to treat pain, or if symptoms worsen, contact your doctor.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking Voltaren Max.
This medicine must not be used in the last three months of pregnancy as it may harm the unborn baby or cause difficulties during labour.
During the first six months of pregnancy, Voltaren Max should be used only on medical advice, and the dose used should be as low as possible and the duration of therapy as short as possible.
During breastfeeding, the drug can only be used on medical advice, as diclofenac is excreted in breast milk in small amounts. In this case, Voltaren Max gel should not be applied to the breasts of lactating women, nor to large areas of skin or for a long time.

Voltaren Max contains propylene glycol, butylated hydroxytoluene (E 321) and fragrance

Propylene glycol may cause skin irritation.
Butylated hydroxytoluene (E321) may cause a local skin reaction (e.g. contact dermatitis) or irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes.
The drug contains a fragrance composition with benzyl alcohol, citronellol, coumarin, dlimonene, eugenol, geraniol, linalool, which may cause allergic reactions.
